Tri – Level League

If you’re looking for a league where you can be on a team with your friends of different rating levels, then Tri-Level is for you! In Tri-Level, teams are comprised of players with 3 or more different NTRP levels.

Each match, 3 courts of doubles play. Each court is assigned a different rating level. The idea is that partners have the same rating & play on a court that is assigned that same rating. For example, in the “A” division, there’s a 4.5 court, a 4.0 court, and a 3.5 court. The intention is that (2) 4.5 – rated players play on the 4.5 court, (2) 4.0′ s play on the 4.0 court, and (2) 3.5 ‘s play on the 3.5 court.

Players may only play in one flight per division. That means if you are registered on a “B” division team in the Thursday PM flight, you can’t register on another “B” division in the Wed AM flight. However, you could play on teams in two different divisions. For example, if you’re a 3.0, you could play on a “C” division team (3.5/3.0/2.5) and also play on a “B” division (4.0/3.5/3.0) team as well.

Tri – Level Divisions

Women’s play is offered in the A, B & C divisions.  Men’s teams compete in the A & B divisions only.

  • “AA” Divison: 5.0 court / 4.5 court / 4.0 court
  • “A” Division:  4.5 court / 4.0 court/ 3.5 court
  • “B” Division:  4.0 court / 3.5 court / 3.0 court
  • “C” Division:  3.5 court / 3.0 court / 2.5 court

Tri – Level Roster Guidelines

  • When building your team, there isn’t a rule or limit to the number of players at each level, as long as you have enough players to field each court weekly and don’t exceed the max of 15 players.
  • Players may play up one court. For example, in the “A” Division (3.5/ 4.0/ 4.5), a 3.5 rated player may play on the 4.0 court, and a 4.0 may play on the 4.5 court, but a 3.5 cannot play on the 4.5.
  • Consider your players’ overall availability to ensure your roster has enough players at each level. You may continue to add players to your roster until Last Day to Add Player deadline (listed in the Registration Dates table above)

Match Play Guidelines

  • On each court, a player’s NTRP rating can’t be higher than the rating assigned to that specific court.
  • Example: In the “A” Division, on Court #2:  Since this court is assigned a 4.0 rating level, two 4.0’s may play together, or a 4.0 & a 3.5. However, a 4.0 could not play with a 4.5 (because a 4.5 rating exceeds the 4.0 rating level assigned to this court).
  • If you need to register as a USTA member or aren’t sure what your rating is, go to Tennislink.
  • If your team advances to Championship play, visit Captain’s Corner / Player Resources for information.
